About the project

This is a speculative design project that imagines what the historic Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, New York could look like in 100 years. Against the backdrop of gentrification today, this project is meant to inspire creative, participatory, and culturally-informed ideas about the types of spaces and services that residents can imagine, build, and demand to reflect the history and contributions of the neighborhood, while being responsive to environmental and demographic shifts.

The process

  1. 04 · Open to all

Now anyone can use AI to imagine a building and share it — from anywhere.

  2. 03 · Posters

Prototype, rendering and location photos were composited into posters.

  3. 02 · Renderings

Each structure was tied to a figure, cultural moment or idea, then rendered with Gemini and Midjourney, with inspiration from Black artists and architects.

  4. 01 · Prototypes

Physical models were built from discarded 3D-printed scraps.
